TP53 — XAF1

Text-mined interactions from Literome

Zhang et al., Int J Oncol 2010 (Colonic Neoplasms...) : The effects of overexpressed wild-type and mutant p53 on XAF1 expression were evaluated ... Ectopic overexpression of wild-type p53 suppressed XAF1 expression ... Suppression of p53 not only decreased the binding capacity of p53 responsive halfsite but also increased XAF1 transcription ... In conclusion, we demonstrated that p53 could suppress the transcription of XAF1 through interaction with a high affinity responsive element ( -95 to -86 nt ) within XAF1 promoter, indicating a novel exclusive mechanism between these two tumor suppressors
Zou et al., Mol Carcinog 2012 (Colonic Neoplasms...) : We first identified XAF1 as a novel target gene of p53 by the chromatin immunoprecipitation ( CHIP ) assay and demonstrated that wild-type p53 , but not mutant p53, down-regulated XAF1 at both mRNA and protein levels, which acted mostly under the condition of high expression of XAF1 and was associated with the physical interaction between p53 and the XAF1 promoter ... We also found that the over-expression of XAF1 led to activation of wild-type p53 via post-translational modification in cells with or without DNA damage, which resulting in p53 nuclear accumulation and its increased transcriptional activity and enhancing p53 dependent apoptosis
