AFP — EGF
Text-mined interactions from Literome
Keel et al., Endocrinology 1991
:
AFP dose-dependently ( 1.25-5 micrograms/ml ) and significantly ( P less than 0.05 ) increased proliferation of porcine granulosa cells in
response to platelet derived growth factor ( PDGF ) and
EGF ( 25 and 10 ng/ml, respectively ), but not to PDGF alone ... These results demonstrate that physiological levels of
AFP , although not mitogenic alone, can significantly
enhance the mitogenic activity of
EGF plus IGF-I/PDGF and may function to modulate growth factor mediated cell proliferation during development and neoplasia
Kaneko et al., Oncodev Biol Med 1980
(Liver Neoplasms, Experimental) :
In a short term cell incubation, TPA and
EGF caused an approximately 2-fold increase in the production of
alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) and other acid-precipitable materials, while the same concentration of insulin brought a 3-fold increase
